Upcoming A30 Roadworks & Safety Improvements (Kennards House to Five Lanes)

Dates: 5 September 2026 – March 2027

National Highways will be carrying out essential safety improvements to junctions along the A30 between Kennards House and Five Lanes. Significant delays are expected, particularly on Fridays and over weekends, so please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys.

Key Traffic Measures & Speed Limits

  • From 7 September 2026 to March 2027: The A30 will be reduced to one lane in each direction 24/7.
  • Reduced speed limits of 40mph and 50mph will be enforced through the work area.
  • 24/7 free vehicle recovery will be available within the works zone.

Overnight A30 Road Closures (9pm – 6am) Signed diversions will be in place via Launceston, Carkeel Roundabout, the A38, and Carminow during full overnight closures on the following dates:

  • 5 – 10 September: Full closure in both directions between Five Lanes and Kennards House.
  • 23 September: Full closure westbound only.
  • 30 September: Full closure in both directions.

Specific Junction Closures

  • Plusha Junction (Westbound): Closed 24/7 from 4 September 2026 until January 2027 (starts 6am). Note: The local short diversion route will not be available during full A30 overnight closures while this junction is closed.
  • Polyphant Junction (Eastbound into Holyway Cross): Closed 24/7 from 7 September until November 2026 (starts 6am).

Local Bus Services

  • Eastbound: The bus stop at Five Lanes / Altarnun remains unaffected.
  • Westbound (Plusha): Buses will be routed through the service station area to rejoin the A30 westbound during the Plusha junction closure.
  • Polyphant: During overnight Polyphant junction closures, the final bus of the evening will be guided through the work site by the project team.

Note: Work schedules and closures may change at short notice due to weather or operational issues. Residents are advised to check the National Highways daily closures page before traveling.
